Making Your Home Pet Friendly
Do you enjoy having furry friends, or are you considering getting a pet? Have you just moved to a new home with your dog, cat, or other pet? Then it’s time for you to consider making your home a bit more pet friendly. What can you do in order to make sure that your home is ready for a new furry friend? Here are a few tips.
Make their bed
Dogs like having somewhere fluffy and cushiony to sleep. Cats like warm and soft places. And if they find a place like this in the place that they are living, that is what they are going to make their bed. So it’s best for you to get ahead of the curve and provide a sleeping area for your pet in the form of a bed. If you want a good dog bed, get one that is made of material that will not hold in the “doggy” smell. If you want a good cat bed, just make sure you get one that won’t end up with the cat invading another area of your home.
Create a hidey-hole
Cats love to chill out in hiding places, and dogs like to sleep in tighter spaces; that’s why you’ll always find both of them in places that they don’t really fit. Cats will often hide in boxes, but if you provide them with one of those cat towers with hidey-holes, they will be incredibly happy. Dogs, on the other hand, can have a crate or some sort of nook that they chill out in when they sleep. Have your pet’s toys within reach. Dogs chew whatever you leave out for them. So make sure that their chewy toys are within reach. Cats, on the other hand, will start playing with anything that dangles and scratching up whatever is within reach. Make sure that you home has enough items that they can use for their playing and scratching needs, or you could end up with your furniture and other items destroyed. Still concerned? Keep a spray bottle on hand to discourage your pets from bad behavior. Avoid carpeting when you can. Pets and carpets just do not mix. Even if your pets are housebroken, you can still get other things in the carpet like hair. If your pets end up bringing home critters like fleas and ticks, they can get in the carpet as well. So, if you’re thinking about having pets, hardwood floors are the way to go.
