Little Glimpses of Luxury

Everyone wants to feel a bit of luxury every once in a while. The problem is, people assume that you have to spend a lot of money in order to be able to enjoy a luxurious lifestyle. There’s good news! There are some really simple things that you can do and purchase in order to feel a little bit of luxury in your home. First, your color palette needs to be a focus if you want to feel luxurious. What colors do you associate with luxury? Neutrals are one of the first things to come to mind (usually white). White tones in a room can add a warm and comfortable feel to any room that you are working with. Purple is also a great idea, especially rich colors (which are normally associated with royalty).

You may be tempted to use reds, but you have to be careful there due to the fact that bright reds can cause irritation and frustration between people. Subtle reds, however, can be a great idea and help you feel a bit more posh. Second, consider the fabrics you are using. What’s the first fabric that you think of when you think of a luxury home? Silk and other “shimmery” fabrics are associated with luxury. Now, you have to be careful where you are using silks due to how easily they stain and wrinkle, but adding them to the curtains or bedding can definitely up the luxury factor. There are other fabrics that you can try out as well; just mix and match and see how the different materials make you feel and how it looks with your current style and setup.

There are some habits that you can get into in order to feel like your home is a place of luxury as well. Some people say that washing the bedding weekly and always making the bed can help create this feeling. Other people will suggest that you always have fresh towels in bright colors in your bathroom. Some people will make sure that your laundry is done and that your home is clean – obviously this is harder if you have children, but it’s still possible for you to try.

Luxury isn’t only a look, it’s a lifestyle. If you follow some of these guidelines, you will actually start to feel as if your home is a bit more luxurious every single day, even though you aren’t spending a lot of cash on luxurious “things.”
